Who Can Lead a Neighbourhood Plan?
Are you interested in leading a neighbourhood plan? If you want to take charge, there are two primary kinds of organisations empowered to initiate and oversee this process:
Town and Parish Councils: These are your existing, officially recognised local government bodies already established within your community.
Neighbourhood Forums: If your area doesn't have a parish council, you can form a Neighbourhood Forum. These are groups specifically created by members of the community to focus on neighbourhood planning. Your local planning authority must formally recognise and designate this forum for your specific neighbourhood area.
Don't worry about the requirements for creating a Neighbourhood Forum; they are intentionally straightforward. This approach aims to make it easy for various community bodies – including both established and new residents' organisations, voluntary groups, and other community associations – to get involved.
